Fairy World (Asmorphis)

Ruling races:

Dark fairies

They have very dark, ripped-looking wings and a darker appearance. They usually have pale skin, darker-shaded hair and demonic glowing eyes. They inhabit the dark lands of the continent of Asmorphis and their nature is more of the more demonic kind. They love to turn creatures into the subordinates, even their own race.

Brief History: The light fairies and the dark fairies used to be allies and, at some point, even friends about a millennium ago. But… when the reign fell into the hands of a pair of new kings who hated the other race, they broke up the alliance and friendship and declared war on another. Their relationship wasn’t repaired ever since and until about half a century ago, they kept the war going.  The recent relationship between those kingdoms is a relationship of distrust, misunderstanding and disrespect. The dark fairies kept the shadow fairies as slaves for many millennia until the light fairies, reined by the new line of kings, forced them to stop.

Skills:  A dark fairy’s main skills are curses, creating unholy fire, summoning of unholy creatures, unholy healing, black magic in general and the breaking of another fairy’s will and force submission into their minds.

Light fairies

They are the very opposite of the dark fairies with huge very bright drop-like shaped almost transparent wings. They usually also have pale skin, but they have softer-looking brighter hair and most have a soft kind almost angelic expression in their eyes. They inhabit the bright lands of the continent of Asmorphis and their nature is more of the angelic kind. They do what they can to prevent wars from happening and the new generation of light fairies is disgusted of the animalistic subordinate-searching ways of the dark fairies.

Brief History: The light fairies and the dark fairies used to be allies and, at some point, even friends centuries ago. But… when the reign fell into the hands of a pair of new kings who hated the other race, they broke up the alliance and friendship and declared war on another. They enslaved the cloud fairies to always have proper weather on their side. They kept them as slaves for many millennia just like the dark fairies, but- just like the dark fairies- they were forced by the new line of kings of the light fairies to stop.

Skills: A light fairy’s main skills are charms, healing, summoning of holy creatures, dispelling of curses, light magic in general and restoring and strengthening of a creature’s will self-consciousness, positive emotions  and sometimes even love.

Rulers of the Sea:

Water fairies

Their wings and whole appearance is based on the sea. Their wings mostly look like what you can see in the sea like.... shells, sea stars, kelp, water, scales and pearls. Also they can breathe underwater and their wings have a special "skin" over them to make their swimming in the water easy. They look like as if you took the tail of a mermaid and put it into wings. their hair is like the flower fairies' variety but thy mostly stay with shades of brown, blond and water colors like blueish green, blue, violet and very soft pink shades. Their eyes look dull and empty most of the time like a fish and vary in the normal color shades like green violet, glue, brown and grey. Like their existence shows, they inhabit the great ocean of Asmorphis. Their personality varies strongly from kind to almost evil.

Brief History: No one knows where they come from or when they started to exist, but they reined the oceans of the world, Mericia and Arinka, ever since their existence started and did their best to help sailors reach their designation without problems. They should be classified a reining race since they basically are, but they never took part in any war the land fairies had, so they were kind of forgotten for a long time. About a century ago, they emerged from the waters to meet up with the other reining races, but they were only laughed at since they don't “belong” to either light or dark fairies. So... they flooded their capitals with giant waves for 3 days. That caused the reining races to acknowledge them as a reining race. Even though they work for the light and dark fairies, they know that they are a reining race and do the best they can to work hard on taking care of the rivers, water creatures and water of the land.

Skills: The water fairies' main skills are control of water, healing with the help of water, summoning water creatures, the usage of water-based magic and water-based spells and curses. Very rarely, a mermaid is born from the race of the water fairies. It’s like an omen that a new time will start. Until now, only a handful of tailed water fairies were born.

Rulers of the Fire Lands (banished Ruling race):

Fire fairies

They have mostly fire-colored flame-shaped. The colors range from a deep blood red to a very bright orange-yellow. Very rarely, a fire fairy grows blue-ish wings with flame shape. That then is a sign of born high royalty. It didn’t happen in a long time though. Their hair and eyes tend to be the same color as their wings, but it's not unusual if a fire fairy has lightly brighter hair and/or eyes than their wings or vise versa or a few bits and pieces of their hair are coal black. A fire fairy’s eyes are mostly filled with their burning emotions and when angered, you could swear their eyes burn into your soul. Their personalities are mostly very hot-tempered. They sometimes tend to me on the edge of strong emotions ranging from a hot fire-y passion to incredible anger to burning hate.

Brief history: Fire fairies are a banished ruling race. They are basically mutated light fairies. They were a cross-breed between the mighty light fairies and a rebel runt race with undefined strong, mostly fire, abilities. They were used in the long war against the dark fairies and were bred only for this purpose, hence their amazing fire power and strength. After the war was over, the fire fairies were banished from the court of the light fairies and sent into the, by that time, unexplored fire lands of the fairy world. These lands are way too hot for normal fairies, so the light fairies believed that the fire fairies would die out in this territory. But against the light fairies' beliefs, the fire fairies found a hot nice home in these lands. They actually managed to flourish and live a happy life there. It was the best terrain for fire-driven hybrid fairies. They developed a culture and royalty system similar to that of the light fairies and used selection to breed strong fighters to maybe some day strike back and make the light fairies kneel to their strength. As time went by, they grew stronger and managed to make all the runt races of the fire lands that weren't registered by the light fairies bow to them and become part of their people. They tend to have some quarrels with the water fairies at times and have problems with the life-spending flower fairies and the child fire fairies sometimes fly off and do mischievous things to the flower fairies, but as long as there is no more reason why to fight, they will keep developing their quickly growing culture and get stronger.

Skills: Their main skills are fire abilities, manipulation of weaker fairies, fighting and healing with their hot energy that flows through their veins. They were a race specifically bred to counter the strong forces of the dark fairies. Unfortunately they can't use curses or chants like the light and dark fairies can and only a few of them can summon fire beasts. It's a thing that went weaker as time went on and now, there isn't even a hand full of fire fairies that can summon fire beasts and not even the royal family of the fire fairies can use curses or chants.

Subordinate races:

Flower fairies

They have very colorful petal-shaped wings. In that race, it's not abnormal when a fairy has a normally rare hair color like violet, green, blue or other weird colors. Their eyes often have the same color as their hair and their irises look like blossoms of a flower. They inhabit the giant green fields all over the continent of Asmorphis. Their nature is very nature-loving and kind. For many millennia now up to nowadays, they are often used as gardeners of the reining races. Be it thistles or roses, they love to take care of the plants.

Brief history: Their kind is split in two parts. The dark flower fairies with a darker shaded appearance and more dangerous-looking wings with thorn-shaped ends and the light flower fairies with a very brightly shaded appearance and softer-looking wings with leaf-shaped ends.
The dark flower fairies work mostly for the dark fairies where they take care of the thorny wasteland of the dark land. Many dark flower fairies end up with a depression from the deprivation of light. A flower fairy needs light to feel well.
The light flower fairies work mostly for the light fairies where they take care of the fruitful green lands that the wonderful weather of the bright lands brings. Depression caused by light deprivation is for them an unknown term. They are basically bathing in light and proper day and night cycles.  

Skills: Their main skills are very much flower-based. They consists of controlling water to lead it to the plants, helping a flower bloom, controlling nature in general, light healing and from the 21st of May to the 21st of July, they can also make flowers glow in their most beautiful colors. Depending on what plant they are born from, they are specialized on another kind of plant. Some are specialized on grass, others are specialized on thistles, others are specialized on lilies and so on.

Butterfly fairies

Their wings are, like the name says, butterfly-like. Their hair is sometimes the same as their wings, but there are also fairies where the hair color is like red while their wings are blue or something. It really doesn’t depend. But... they vary between all kinds of hair color like the flower fairies. Their eye color is not dependant on the wings, but more in the genes they have. So like a human. They normally inhabit a small island in the not far from the coast. Their nature is a lot like the nature of the flower fairies, just that they are told to be more selfish and wish to know almost everything. They are often taken as librarians of the two reining races. They built gigantic libraries just to store all the knowledge they and all the other fairies have gotten till now.

Brief History:  They once lived everywhere in Asmorphis, but at the beginning of the first giant war between the two reining races, they started to isolate themselves more and more till they were only on an island in front of the coast of Asmorphis where they collected all the knowledge they had into books. Just recently, they started to come out again and work for the reining races.

Skills: Their main skills are manipulating of the mind into seeing illusions, light healing, very fast flying and very fast learning. They envy the flower fairies for their control over the nature, since it’s so nice to see how a flower starts to bloom just because you want it to, but the majority of the butterfly fairies doesn’t hold any grudges against the flower fairies since they have mind manipulating skills what the flower fairies don’t have.

Crystal fairies

Their wings are mostly small, half transparent, held in very bright colors, often white and shaped like a constellation of crystals. Their hair is mostly in the brighter colors of the color spectrum, so also blue, green and pink, but some also have white hair. Their eyes look like a crystal exploded inside of them. They inhabit the large towns of the reining races together with the reining races. They are often working as servants in the palaces of the more wealthy ones. Their personality is very much kind and almost angelic like the light fairies since they used to be part of that race, but when a light fairy became a child with a lower ranked fairy, they had to leave their name of being light fairies behind and so, the race was made.

Brief History: The crystal fairies used to be part of the light fairies' race, but due to... an unfortunate event, they were created. They don’t have much history except for the fact that they decent from light fairies and were cast out for a longer while. They spread from the bright lands to everywhere in Asmorphis – even the dark lands.

Skills: Their main skills consist of charms, strong healing, dispelling of curses, weaker light magic and restoring and strengthening of a creature’s will, self-consciousness and positive emotions in general, spells like the turning your opponent into crystals and causing very strong light with their wings.

Low (former slave) races:

Shadow fairies

Most have black hair, black eyes and black, petal-like shaped wings. They are not bad or anything just... their natural habitat is the shadow lands, so they adapted. They can be quite tricky and there are rumors that they steal. Their nature varies strongly from shy to very outgoing, from submissive to very rebellious.

Brief history: Ever since their beginning of existence, they were suppressed by the dark fairies. The majority was weak, submissive and shy from the start so they were a very welcomed race to be picked on. They were enslaved for many millennia until the new line of light fairy kings forbad that.

Skills: Shadow fairies barely have any magical abilities. They only have their shadow hiding and shadow attacking skills and mostly use weapons like swords, daggers and staffs to defend themselves. That’s why they were overthrown by the dark fairies so much. They didn’t get a good fighting education that could withstand the strength of the curses and unholy beasts. But after they were freed of their rule, they started to learn strongly for that kind of enemy. Their fighting strength grew more and more. By now, they worked themselves almost up to become worthy of fighting in the reining races’ troops.

Cloud fairies

Most of them have white hair, blue eyes and snow white, cloud-like wings. They are mostly having the body of a child and sometimes a teenager. Their natural habitat is the cloud lands, so basically the sky. They are cute, but also have a tricky and naughty side as they are responsible for the weather and often create little storms just for fun.

Brief History: The cloud fairies don’t have much own history since they were the slaves of the light fairies ever since the beginning of the light fairies’ existence. Before that, they just... existed and had their fun with the nature. There are rumors that the cloud fairies only exist because a scientist created them to control the weather over Asmorphis. But in fact, they were born when the weather first started to exist. So they are as old as Asmorphis itself.

Skills: Their main skills are not practically strong. They are mostly weather-related skills like controlling the weather, conjuring lighting flash, conjuring rain, conjuring wind, creating clouds, conjuring snow, becoming one with the wind and just turning into wind to travel even faster. They could have just run away from the light fairies by doing that, but... no one thought about it.
